Het dorp en het strand zijn lopend te bereiken (ongeveer 25 minuten), mooi door de natuur aan de achterkant van Monte São Pedro, of langs de weg. Twee supermarkten: Batista (onze favoriet, ook goed voor koffie met een pastel de nata) en Spar. Favoriete ontbijt/lunchzaak: Bombordo, en in dezelfde straat NahNahBah voor fantastische hamburgers. Voor diner: ZaZu, Boatys, Latitude of Vila Branca (wat prijziger, maar heel goed). Tegenover het huis, op camping Orbitur, zit bar Tito's — vaak op woensdag en zondag vanaf 16u live muziek.

The village and beach are walkable (about 25 minutes), either through nature behind Monte São Pedro or along the road. Two supermarkets: Batista (our favourite, also great for coffee and a pastel de nata) and Spar. Favourite breakfast/lunch spot: Bombordo, and in the same street NahNahBah for fantastic burgers. For dinner: ZaZu, Boatys, Latitude or Vila Branca (pricier, but really good). Across from the house, at Orbitur campsite, there's bar Tito's — often live music on Wednesdays and Sundays from 4pm.

Vanuit Praia da Luz is Burgau lopend te bereiken: een mooie wandeling langs de rotskust van ongeveer een uur, startend aan de westkant van het dorp. Vandaar kun je doorlopen naar Salema (nog een uur) en met een Uber terug. Niet voor kleine beentjes, wel de moeite waard. Aan de oostkant loop je in ongeveer 3 kwartier naar Porto de Mós, steil omhoog en dan de kustlijn volgend — mooi uitzicht over Praia da Luz.

From Praia da Luz, Burgau is walkable: a beautiful coastal walk of about an hour, starting on the west side of the village. From there you can continue to Salema (another hour) and take an Uber back. Not for little legs, but well worth it. On the east side it's about 45 minutes to Porto de Mós, steeply up and then following the coastline — great views over Praia da Luz.

Corso is een top pizzeria. Bij de "grote P" is een leuk barretje/terras langs de helling naar het strand, met geweldig uitzicht.

Grote gratis parkeerplaats tussen de Rua Infante de Sagres en de Rua de Atalaia, vlak bij het centrum. Leuk om te wandelen: terrassen, haven, winkels. Mexicaans eten bij The Green Room (net buiten het centrum), Italiaans bij Pomo Lagos (top maar druk) of Ciuccio. Ponte da Piedade is prachtig vanaf het water (boottochtjes/kano's). Aan de overkant van de haven ligt een lang strand met strandrestaurants — aanrader is Bar Quim, met de beste garnalen.

Large free car park between Rua Infante de Sagres and Rua de Atalaia, close to the centre. Great for strolling: terraces, harbour, shops. Mexican food at The Green Room (just outside the centre), Italian at Pomo Lagos (great but busy) or Ciuccio. Ponte da Piedade is stunning from the water (boat trips/kayaks). Across the harbour is a long beach with beach restaurants — Bar Quim is a favourite, with the best prawns.

Ongeveer 45 minuten tot een uur rijden. Mooi bij helder weer. Geweldige kip piri piri bij Rampa, met een super uitzicht vanaf het terras, zo'n 10 minuten na het dorp Monchique richting Fóia (de top).

Ruige kust, veel surfstranden, hoge golven. Fantastisch lunchen bij O'Sargo in Monte Clérigo. Vlakbij: Praia da Arrifana, mooi om naar de surfers te kijken, en restaurant Cal. Carrapateira is iets verder maar heeft een prachtig strand.

Net voorbij Portimão. Gezellig dorp met een leuk pleintje en straatjes (Ferragudo). Via een steegje aan het einde van de boulevard kom je aan de achterkant van het dorp, vandaar 10 minuten lopen naar Praia Grande. De 2e zondag van de maand is er een leuke rommelmarkt.

Just past Portimão. A charming village with a lovely little square and streets (Ferragudo). Via an alley at the end of the boulevard you reach the back of the village, from where it's a 10-minute walk to Praia Grande. On the 2nd Sunday of the month there's a nice flea market.

Langs de N125 richting Faro liggen Slide & Splash (waterpark) en Zoomarine (met dolfijnen e.d.).
